i Loved LOVED LOVED this facial! the location was fine, the therapist made me feel very comfortable, i was seen straight away, no paperwork to fill in, i just gave her my voucher and that was it. the lady is very very nice and knows what she is talking about; she didnt make small talk and didnt try to sell me products, the extraction was good! i will go back again in 3 weeks! oh yh! i was there for 1:25mins (the whole treatment) although tit's supposed to last an hour! i highly recomment her. This is now my permanent facial place as the deep facial is only £35 outside wahanda.
Having walked past the B hive a few times, I couldn't see where the entrance to the salon was (no sign anywhere), so was about to ring one of the numerous doorbells when a woman appeared at the door to let me in. After introducing herself she led me through some rooms, down stairs & into a room at the back of the building...ok, not what I was expecting, but I'll give it a go.
My therapist was very nice & welcoming.
We started off with my 'luxury' pedicure..
feet were placed in a bowl of warm water, soaked etc. Then I was asked to pick a colour of nail polish from a selection on a shelf...to say I was a bit disappointed to see bottles from Rimmel & Avon there was a bit of an understatement! I mean, I've got those brands at home & was expecting a bit more from a salon in London!!
However there were a few colours from OPI, which I recognised as a professional brand, & as this was supposed to be a treat, chose one of those.
After a nice foot scrub, nail trim & file, the polish was applied, finished off with an Avon top coat!
Now onto the 'luxury' manicure...
again hands were soaked in a bowl of warm water, exfoliliated & massaged. I was asked to choose a colour again, & on asking if I could have a french manicure & pay the extra...was told that she was not qualified to do it!!
So I picked another OPI colour (not picking Rimmel or Avon on principle)
To be fair to the therapist, she was very pleasant, offered me a coffee, chatted, as we were the only ones there & she did do a good job with the polish & it has lasted over 2 weeks (toes over 3 weeks)
But......I would not have classed this as a luxury manicure/pedicure, although excellent value for the discounted voucher price..just not a luxury experience.
So will be trying other salons in the future
I had a lovely massage at Rock Chic Beauty. The facilities are basic but clean. The therapist was really nice, I enjoyed the massage. Made me totally relaxed. She even massaged my face which was amazing.
the treatment was good as the therapist was very skilled, the staff at reception was ok, not very welcoming and with a huge delay for my treatment, my treatment was infact shorter than it should have been (20 mins shorter), the room was ok but therapists kept coming in and out during what should have been a relaxing treatment.
The location is great - just off The Strand, and a few seconds from Covent Garden Piazza. It's inside a shared building and has a building receptionist - so it's not immediately recognisable as the right place! Decor in the main reception and throughout is lovely. My appointment was at 6.15pm, when other offices within the building were closing. The salon was down a metal winding staircase accessed from main reception, and when I got there I was led through several open plan rooms to the treatment room at the back. I think it would usually be quite nice, but as it was later in the day the cleaners were in and I had to squeeze past the cleaning trolley and over equipment. Not very 'relaxing' but once inside the room it was fine. Once through the formalities of the voucher payment/health questionnaire the facial began. The products used and the actual facial was good, although I was surprised that there wasn’t a face mask. Any other facial I have had has included one where you are left to relax for 10 minutes. The ‘extraction’ part of the facial was also a bit uncomfortable – although thorough! At one point I worried the therapist was going to break my cheek bone! Also the extreme difference between the darkened room when having the steam and the very bright light used for the ‘extraction’ left my eyes watering even though they were closed and covered with cotton pads. The facial also fell short of the 1 hour that it was supposed to last. I arrived 15 mins early, but did not go down to the room until 6.15 – the paperwork took at least 10 mins – then the facial was finished by about 7.05. In short – my skin does feel much better for having the facial. I thought the treatment was good, even though it was shorter. The products used were really good. I would consider going there again – but if I was paying full price I would have complained about the shorter appointment.
