Indian head massage was amazing. Probably the best I've had. The price was very reasonable and the staff are lovely.
The treatment rooms are well equipped and clean, perfect for waxing and beauty treatments. However for massage they could have a bit more ambience, music, dimmed light etc.. but it was still a fantastic treatment and I will definitely book it again!
I recently visited the beauty salon for a shellac manicure (times and dates are detailed below), and unfortunately the service I received was so atrocious that I felt I needed to write to them to complain. The overall experience and end result that I am now left with have reduced me to tears and I find it wholly unacceptable that they continue to offer these services.
I initially booked an appointment through Treatwell for Sunday 24th July for 2pm. When I arrived at the allotted time I was told that there was no appointment and it was instead rearranged for the following Tuesday. I received a telephone call from the salon on the Monday to tell me that the salon was actually closed at the time my appointment had been rebooked for. I then asked for a refund as I had wanted to get the treatment that week, and was told that I should cancel through Treatwell and the refund would be issued. When I attempted to do this on Treatwell I was told that it was not possible as your salon has a strict policy of no refunds for cancelled appointments.
As I was not able to get a refund I called again on Monday 1st August and booked an appointment for Thursday 4th at 6.30pm. Given my earlier experience, I called the salon on Thursday morning to confirm that they were expecting me in the evening and was told that my appointment was scheduled for 6.30, as booked. When I arrived at the salon in the evening I was told I did not have an appointment. A few minutes later this miraculously changed and my appointment took place after all.
I have naturally relatively thin nails, and after my previous shellac polish was removed the beautician filed down my nails very hard, as far as they could go so that most of my nails had no nail tips.
After applying a base coat and three layers of colour, the beautician appeared to realise that something had not been done, or had not worked properly and that the process would need to be reversed and started again. She then proceeds to attempt to quickly try to take off what had been done, soaking my nails in acetone for a second time and appears to be rushing due to the salon being due to close shortly. It seems that the acetone was not left on for long enough and the process of scraping the shellac polish from my nails causes my cuticles and and the skin around my nails to bleed. At this point the beautician appeared irritated or exasperated and roped in another member of staff to finish the job.
The other member of staff who took over then told me that my nails could not be buffered anymore because they were too thin - an outcome of having shellac removed twice in the previous hour or so. Whilst the second member of staff was attempting fix the job of the first beautician, a UV lamp blew up on the table next to us. As the shellac was being applied, I was advised I should not get it again as my nails are too thin, and that the shellac was difficult to apply as my nails were too short (a result of the earlier filing).
I left the salon with very sore fingers, nails which are very short and not uniform in length. Given the above, I’m sure that you can understand that I was extremely unhappy and upset at the service I received and that I am now left with nails which I am unhappy with, and no way to improve the unappealing appearance of.
The staff members were clearly aware that they had not done anything near an adequate job, but few apologies were offered except the admission that the initial aborted attempt was not acceptable and would need to be completely restarted.
Whilst the staff appeared busy, this is no excuse to perform woefully inadequate and substandard treatments. Frankly I am shocked that they are allowing this level of wholly unacceptable service to take place. My experience has been brief - around two hours in the salon, and so it is not clear to me whether the failings are a matter of inadequate training; overworked staff who are no longer able to undertake the job properly by the evening; a lack of care in the work that is undertaken; or all of the above. However what was clear to me is that the salon was not able to perform the services advertised - a fact that I consider is an absolute disgrace.
Given the clear inadequacies, I was quite shocked to not even be offered a refund, despite the inability of this to return my nails to a reasonable state. Based on my experience, they are a long way from providing the necessary ‘reasonable care and skill’ required by traders in the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and frankly I am disgusted that they appear satisfied to continue trading in this manner.
I have written to the salon, and tried to return a call from the manager on many occassions, but the manager is never there when I call. I will be reporting them to trading standards.
