I arrived at 2:35 for my 2:45 appointment and was told I would not be seen until 3 so had to wait for a long time. I had checked the website to see if they used either special tables for pregnancy massage where you can lie face down and they have a hole in the table for the belly or a special pillow shaped to allow for the belly. I have had several pregnancy massages with either of those , I have a hip and spine injury so did not wish to have a massage lying on my side as I find it very uncomfortable. The description for pregnancy massage on the website I booked said: "You’ll then be taken to a private treatment room, where your therapist will help you find your perfect position on the specialised massage table. Given tender breasts and a growing belly, lying flat on your face or back isn’t exactly ideal! Luckily, many pregnancy massage tables have hollowed-out areas and supportive pillows to accommodate your changing shape." I would not have booked if I had known I would have to lie on my side. If it was a really good massage it could have made up for a lot but it wasn't. I asked for firmer pressure twice and got nothing, I could barely feel it at all and it did nothing to loosen up my tight muscles and knots. She did not have the technique of a proper massage therapist. I have never before given a negative review but i don't want anyone who actually has genuine need for pain relief to choose this place for a massage. It may suit someone who prefer's very light massage. The spa itself was very nice and smelled great.
The facial wasn't anything special at all, just put a few cleansers on my face and washed it off using a sponge and the lady kept rinsing the sponge in the same bowl of water throughout the whole treatment, which made the "cleaning" kind of pointless. Saw no change in my skin. The massage was relaxing.
Good traditional Thai massage
All in all - good experience
The spa is a little hidden gem, with beautiful decor and relaxing fragrance/music throughout. I had a deep tissue massage that was firm and thorough and worked my terrible and numerous knotted muscles out. This was my first and my skilled masseuse put me at ease and checked how i was feeling throughout the whole process. The rooms are clean and relaxing too. I'll be back.
