I went with a wowcher for a hair treatment, hair cut, wash and blowdry, I feel I didn't get hair treatment, it said on later that a hair mask would be applied, the only dressing that was applied was a cream to the hair before my hair cut and then start to cut immediately, so I don't know if that is the hair treatment, also after shampoo maybe they applied conditioner, but I don't feel they did because they wouldn't be able to cut it, and I remember the lady saying she needed to take out all oils from the hair on the wash and she shampooed the hair several times to make sure the hair was not sliding when they cut it. So that's what happened. But otherwise they lady was not rough but gentle similarly the man who did the cutting was very gentle and I liked the cut. So I have no complaints on these issues, and would recommend going to them to cut your hair.
Great stylist and very friendly staff
Quirky salon. If you're in need of a quick and inexpensive trim it fits the bill.
I booked for just a cut, but my hair also needed colour so when I arrived, the stylist gave me some colour advice and I decided to have my colour done too. The colour is perfect - the exact colour I wanted and it looks so natural and healthy now. The cut was quick, not faffy, and it took just enough off without going too short - just what I had asked for. The stylist is really pleasant and we had a good chat during my appointment.
The salon itself is slightly unconventional - everything has been repurposed or recycled, so there isn't a lot of bright white paint, brand new fittings and glossy posters. But I think that's a good thing as the focus is on the hair styling and not on the look of the place. I was constantly offered drinks and even breakfast while I was there and I felt entirely welcome and comfortable. I'll definitely be going back.
I was reluctant to leave a review as after my experience at the salon, but I decided to leave one as a warning for anybody looking to book here. This was by far the worst customer service I have ever received. I hope nobody has to experience what I did.
I booked this based on the good reviews. When I arrived at the hairdresser, the owner/hairdresser greeted me and asked what style I wanted. I told him I wanted a trim and that I was happy for him to add some depth to it with layers. He wanted to know what I meant, so I explained I'd like to keep the style but get rid of some split ends. He informed me there was a £10 surcharge as I had long hair and as per the coupon, in which I agreed to. I proceeded to get my hair washed by the assistant and then have my hair dried. This is when things turned unpleasant.
He started cutting my hair, but instead of cutting it so the hair would go onto the ground- he cut it so all the hair went all over the front of me and onto my face. I've had many haircuts before, and this was a first. He then went on to dry my hair again, a few times the hot hair-dryer made contact with my scalp. I was hesitant to say anything as I felt intimidated by him from his attitude, but after a few times of it happening, I let him know of this. His tone completely changed and immediately accused me of lying. He raised his voice raised and angrily told me I was trying to find a reason to complain.
I was shocked by this and not sure what to say as everyone in the salon had turned to look at me. I calmly told him I wasn't making it up, but simply letting him know as it was hurting. He continued to blow dry it more, that's when I asked whether he was going to style it as the voucher I purchased came with a blow dry. He got very angry again and abruptly told me that was the style I was getting. The way he treated me made me feel completely worthless, it was hard to believe I was a customer there. I was very scared at this point and just wanted to get out of the salon as soon as possible. I explained because usually when I get a blow dry- they will ask how I want it styled and I like to get waves as my hair is naturally dead straight. He exclaimed it was my fault, and that I should have written this in the Groupon in comments. He went off on a rant and started saying that he didn't have time now as my time was up. I said that was fine and if that was the case I was okay with it. I started getting teary as I was so humiliated by the way he was speaking to me and embarrassing me in front of the other patrons in the salon. He walked off, then came back to see me and his temper grew even more, yelling that he did not want me in his shop as I was crying and told me to get out of his store. By this point, it felt like a horrible nightmare and I wasn't sure what I had done to upset him. I said I would leave and apologised as I didn't mean to upset him. He then changed his mind and asked me what curls I wanted, pointing to the magazine on the table with a woman with curly hair on the cover. He went on to say he could curl my hair for me but I'd have to wait an hour. I asked him why and he said this was because I didn't tell him earlier, even though he never asked me. I thought it was for my safety to leave, so I stood up and told him I would leave now and thanked him for the haircut. He yelled at me to get out and keep my 10 pounds, when I left he came out of the street after me calling me an idiot and continued to yell abuse at me. I left the hairdressers shaking and feeling sick about the whole experience. To think that I had been looking forward to this hair appointment for weeks, as I had read the good reviews.
