Really please with the balayage and cut, but salon could do with a bit of tlc. Light bulbs need replacing and was served an espresso in a plastic cup (which had shrivelled with the heat). Good value compared to other London salons, but expect a no-frills experience
They can’t do blonde highlights/balayage well
I asked for blonde foils with toner and specifically said no brassiness or yellow colours
I have had blonde foils a million times before and never had issue with brassiness yellow tones
My hair is now really brassy and caramel and the foils are yellow
They didn’t tone at all or do what I want
Do not recommend for blondes at all
The shop looked fine from the outside but inside it’s run down and doesn’t have any customer comforts or luxuries I would expect from a hairdressers in Primrose Hill. The website suggests a glamorous high end salon; the reality was disappointing and shabby. English is clearly not the first language of anyone at the salon so I was nervous if I would get what I asked for, however the hair cut was fine.
The two women at the salon who worked on my hair were lovely and supportive, although the language barrier is somewhat of a hinderance. That being said, the final result of my balayage was delightful, even though I was dealt a surprise when a 20 pounds were added to my bill for the use of a toner. The haircut that followed, however, was effective but basic — my hairdresser did not sound like she was in the mood to dispense advice or make suggestions, but she followed my instructions to the tee.
I was a bit nervous going to a new salon but after reading the reviews I decided to book with Sara and I’m so glad I did! I showed her a picture of what I wanted to achieve and she worked her magic! I had a balayage/cut/blowdry done and I could not be more happier with the results! The shades in my hair blend out so effortlessly. If your thinking of booking at Joelle Shades, do it! Thank you again Sara!!!
