I had the dry pedicure at Cucumba, which uses an electronic file to blast away the dry skin. The therapist was very thorough and did a good job with the filing, followed by a great foot massage and nail paint. I was impressed and would definitely go back, although next time I would allow more time as the treatment was over 1 hour 30 minutes.
My therapist was welcoming, friendly and chatty. I was offered a drink and we discussed which kind of pedicure I would prefer. I had the dry skin busting foot package which included using an electric file to remove the hard skin from my feet which worked really well. I was given a relaxing massage and then my feet were left in hot boots to relax. I enjoyed the whole experience
I have been looking for a place that does "dry pedicure" for a while. Without any luck. Until I came across Cucumba. I read through reviews before purchasing Wahanda voucher (no one is happy to just throw their money away, right?) and as it was a very good offer (1/2 price I think) I went for it. I called the salon as soon as I bought the voucher & was very pleasantly surprised that they could fit me in the very next day.
Now, don't expect water fountains, candles & soothing music. This place is in the heart of busy Soho & not huge, therefore can get quite busy. But the staff are very, very welcoming and pleasant. If you are aiming for a quick pit-stop to refresh your manicure before going out, this is your place.
I had my toenails quickly shaped & cuticles pushed back a little & then it was time to tend to my hooves. I really didn't envy the therapist. But she didn't seem to be shocked by the amount of dry skin on my heels and the balls of my feet (paying the price for loving those high heels). She explained to me how was the skin removal to be done and set to work. It took a while. In fact, I was still there after their closing hours! No one was rushing me out of the doors & another girl spend a few minutes massaging a lotion into my feet. It was a bliss.
My other half came to collect me & whilst waiting I tried to persuade him to come back to have his back waxed! You guess correctly, the answer was a resolute no. Chicken. But I'm not giving up.
In the meantime, planning another visit to Cucumba...
Although the venue, location, staff and ambience in the salon was great! The actual predicure - dry skin pedicure - was a complete let down. All that was used was a nail saw like you'ld get in any local vietnamese/chinese nail shop. I could have gone there instead and then got a really nice luxury pedicure and massage for less that I paid for this procedure.
My friend and I had a lovely relaxing afternoon. The staff were very helpful and offered additional advice about other treatments. There was a calm atmosphere and we didn't feel at all rushed. It would have been nice to have been offered other refreshments than water, but the overall experience was very good.
