The first treatment I booked here was Gel Nail takeoff. I was very impressed with the price at £5, half of what many other salons charge. The salon was spotless and really modern, and despite being situated in a gym it felt very removed from this and very relaxing. I really enjoyed my surroundings and the herbal tea I was offered. In other places during soak off, I’ve had my hands soaked in a bowl of remover which is probably not very good for them. However here I was really pleased to see they had special foils that they used. The therapist I had was very friendly however he didn’t seem enormously experienced and was a little bit clumsy with applying the remover to the foils. Unfortunately a lot of the remover then was covered over his hands and quite sticky which was unpleasant for me when he was filing my nails. My gel didn’t actually come off with the foils, however I want to stress that I don’t think that’s due to the salon itself, more the amount of time the gel was cured for when previously applied. They had lots of equipment which was clearly very new and after putting my hands into some heated pads, it came off a little more easily although did still have to be scraped off. Overall I would return to the salon but in all honesty would probably hope to have one of the more experienced staff members.
Very good, lovely experience. Not the best application and would prefer a larger range of brands to choose from but overall was a nice treat.
I had such a great time here. I haven't been to many spas, and I wasn't expecting this one to be anything too special because it was such a great price at £18 for three hours in the thermal spa. I arrived and was greeted by a lovely receptionist who handed me a bag with a robe, towel and slippers, then lead me to the changing rooms. The changing rooms are shared with those using the swimming pool at better gym. It was a large changing room, with lockers which take a refundable £1 coin, and an open plan area to change, then two private changing cubicles. Then there was a section with a long mirror and hairdryers which are free to use, a good amount of toilets in another part of the changing room, and a big open plan shower along with two private shower cubicles. I was lucky enough to be the only one in the changing rooms when I arrived. Once I changed I went back to the spa reception and was then guided to the thermal spa area.. We walked though the relaxing quiet zone, where you can unwind and enjoy complimentary herbal tea or fruit infused water. I am surprised that you have to walk through that room to then get to the spa though. If it were quite busy I dont know how relaxing it'd be if people kept walking through.. I was then taken to the thermal spa room. It's small, but has everything you'd expect. There was a wonderful sauna, a steam room, a long hammam bench, a smaller hammam bench here two people can sit and then dip their feet into a "foot jacuzzi" (I don't know the actual name). Here you can either choose hot or cold water to fill up into your foot bath, then it bubbles away like a jacuzzi. I loved this! There was also a shower which had water jets coming out from the top and the sides, which you can adjust the angle and temp of which was nice. Next to that was a shower cubicle with a wooden bucket at the top and a chain to pull, this brought down freezing cold water which was so refreshing to use after the sauna and steam room! Lastly there was a nice jacuzzi in the middle of the room too. I was so lucky when I went as I was the only one in the whole spa for 2hours! There was another person there when I first arrived but he left after half an hour! I was so relaxed and used all stations about three times! A really enjoyable experience and I'd definitely go back. I haven't given full stars on cleanliness because my robe had a few marks on it (pretty sure it was permanent though as it smelt clean, but did concern me a bit). The loos in the changing room had loo roll everywhere in a couple of the cubicles too. Also throughout my 2.5hours of being in the spa, no one cleared used water glasses. These are very petty complaints I know, but would add that extra luxury!
I had a lovely pedicure from Lina, who did a fantastic French Polish on my toes. She was very friendly and even kindly lent me her flip-flops to go home in so I wouldn't smudge my polish. The salon doesn't use the metal shaver/file to remove dead skin which I would have liked so that would be my only criticism but all in all I was very pleased and will definitely be going back. And I saw Shellac being applied to another lady's fingernails while I was there, which looked great so I'll be booking another appointment for that.
Great atmosphere, superb facilities and very good value for your money. My partner and I went there on Monday afternoon for a 3-hour Thermal Spa Experience and we're both delighted. The swimming pool was almost empty so we had our own lane, and the Spa as well so we could fully relax without anybody around. Steam and Sauna therapy were very effective - as well as the cold bucket shower and the ice box - to improve circulation, skin purity and general body wellness. We'll be back for sure.
