I had a very relaxing morning at the spa. Good value for money, great sauna and steam rooms. Overall a very positive experience but a couple of things could be improved. Some of the rooms had an unfortunate smell (the Tepidarium, Caldarium and Laconium), but the sauna and two steam rooms were great. There was a large party of women sitting in the relaxation area talking which was a shame as the area was meant to be a silence space, but otherwise I had a good time.
The thermal spa at York Hall is a pleasurable way to zone out away from the daily grind. Various hot rooms, steam rooms, a sauna and relaxation spaces mean that you can travel from one to another happily in your allotted three hours. I am grateful for it with two caveats. On my last visit one of the steam rooms smelt unpleasantly mouldy and in the relaxation lounge a leak dripping from the roof into a bucket was like Chinese water torture and the very opposite of relaxing, wherever you sat.
I went for the 3 hour spa and facial experience. An overall really enjoyable time - the facial was lovely with the therapist really attentive to my needs (I have acne and dry skin) plus an added bonus of a shoulder/head massage as part of it.
The facilities are good - lots of different sections to choose from and A relaxation area with water, apples and magazines provided which added a really nice touch. Would recommend if you’re looking for a reasonably priced spa experience.
