I really like all atmosphere inside the spa, I and my boyfriend enjoy the treatment. All girls were really friendly and helpful. We saw big minus, when after we went to shower were wasn't any simple shampoo or soup in loo, but the worst thing I had to stand in dirty water because ALL drains were blocked.
The Ironmonger Row Baths refurbishment is impressive,it's great to see this building restored to such a high standard of facility. However the Moroccan Rasul Ritual doesn't quite live up to its billing or match its surroundings. Upon arrival in the spa the receptionist was nowhere near as welcoming and friendly as you'd expect in such an establishment. With barely any effort on the part of the staff, following a very matter of fact process in filling out forms and exchanging shoes for slippers, gowns and towels, we were shown into the Spa area by the treatment specialist, this it seemed was essentially a narrow corridor with a couple of treatment rooms. There my partner and I were introduced to the two person Moroccan spa room and given a very cursory explanation of how to administer the treatment and the process we should follow. We were then shown to the Disabled toilet / changing area to share, I think this was considered to be appropriate so that my partner and I could change together, but actually felt more like we'd been left in a public toilet across the road to get changed ! The thought was there but really it would have been far better to have advised us to use the separate male and female changing areas which were of a better standard and would have felt more luxurious. At that point I would also have expected to be offered at least some water to drink or shown where it was available, neither of which happened, instead our treatment advisor simply disappeared, leaving me to search out a jug of water on a shelf in the corner with one clean glass and a small amount of water remaining, as the spa area was not staffed it was not possible to request a top up of the water.
The treatment itself felt haphazard, the guidelines we had been given should have also been listed on the wall within the Spa area as although we remembered most of what we were told to do we didn't really know what to expect within the room in terms of the order of steam, shower, water sprays ect. It would have been nice to also have a description to follow to get the most from the treatment. A fine mist we'd been told about turned out to be a two second blast we really could not understand, so we followed the process of applying soap, showering, putting on a rather slimy greasy feeling mud that didn't feel nice at all and then waiting to see what would come next from the automated spa system and it's increasingly scary music selection. When it finished we didn't know if that was it or not !?! Having applied the shea butter moisturiser which felt more like a handful of cooking lard we left the Spa room to find that the disabled toilet facility where our clothes were can only be opened by a member of staff who was still nowhere to be seen, it was left to the cleaner to try and decipher why we wanted to get into this room, having eventually realised what we were trying to tell her, she went to get the key from reception so we could retrieve our belongings, hanging around in the corridor covered in lard and wrapped in our dressing gowns was not quite the luxury attention we were hoping for at the end of the treatment.
Overall I have to say that the experience was not as relaxing or as indulgent as you might expect. This was mainly down to a combination of what felt like a lack of attention to customer service and the actual products used within the spa along with the simple absence of written detail regarding what to expect from the treatment and how to get the best from the process. It would also have been nice to be able to use the sauna and steam facilities as part of this offer, but this was subject to an extra charge, which seemed unnecessary. The Spa itself and the changing areas ect are spotlessly clean and of a good standard but I wouldn't return to the Spa based on this experience, there was simply a lack of attention to detail in customer service and a feeling that the experience was not good value for the money. Having said that the actual Baths themselves and the overall level of the rest of the facility look very impressive.
I visitied ironmonger row baths taking a friend for her birthday treat. I must say we had a brilliant time. I booked for us the thermal spa experince including rasul treatment. Excellent value for money.
On arrival there was a que at reception however we had arrived early so this was not too much of a problem and the receptionist was very appologetic and swift at checking us in. We were given towels robes and slippers all included in the price.
The thermal spa was great, the dim light and soft music was very relaxing. We liked that as well as the standard steam and suana there is also traditional experinces available at ironmonger row like the hammam area, turkish bath rooms, plunge pool and ice fountain. The relaxation area is spacious and the beds wide and comfortable. There is also complimentary tea, water and fruit, although I wish we had known about light lunch as I would have loved to of included this for me and my friend.
Our Rasul treatment was great, the therapist explained what was involved with such enthusiasm we couldn't wait to start the experince. I've never had a rasul before and was impressed with the mood lighting, personal music and products that we were given to use. £60 for two is great value for money. Although I could not fault the treatment in any way its probably something that is best suited to couples.
When we were leaving it was noticable in the changing rooms that is was becoming busier so once we were dressed we made our way out to their vanity area. What a great expantion of the changing rooms, they have available blowdryers and GHD straightners to use free!!
Overall a lovely experince and a great birthday treat for my friend who also enjoyed herself.
I went to this spa with a friend. Was quite apprehensive due to the reviews, but my goodness I was so I glad my thoughts were wrong!
We had a bit of a queue as we arrived but the receptionist apologised and was brilliant. She was so helpful and checked us in with ease. I didn't get her name but she showed us around, they have really done it so nicely - GHD's straightening Irons to boot!
After we were dressed in our soft robes and slippers we shuffled through to the spa, and well - what to choose first!!! Two saunas, two steam room - all which are huge and have cool funky lighting, ice fountain, these rooms which started warm then got hotter as you went through (they had some fancy name which I can't remember) a freezing cold pool and some crazy bucket with cold water and finally what we started with a heated bench where me and my friend had a good old natter!
That's where we saw someone get taken through to have a treatment in the spa area, this is the best find yet!!! We were able to book these great 15min treatments on these marble slabs which were brilliant value - only £12! We got a full body scrub with this wonderful smelling product!! BARGAIN!! My skin has never felt so soft!!!
After our treatment and a trying of all the facilities we finished our 3 hour session in the relaxation room, loads of beds with free apples and herbal tea to fill your boots with. We were going out for dinner after so I didn't get to try their menu but at £5 it also seemed good value!
I will definitely be returning to their spa and to try more of their fab treatments!
I visited Spa London at Ironmonger Row on Sunday 9th December as part of a birthday treat to myself and frankly I should have stayed in bed because I would have had a better time. I was so looking forward to my spa experience and had been keeping an eye out to see when it was going to open after the refurbishment work. It was the worst experience I have had. The only thing that could have been worse is if raw sewage had started to come through the piepes.
1. It looked like the spa has not been cleaned since the last session with clumps of hairs in the shower and steam room.
2. Most of the lightening was off, which meant it was difficult to see where you were going. This nearly led to myself and another visitor to the spa having an accident as there was hoover left unattended just outside the female changing area. This was quite dangerous.
3. The saunas were not working at all.
4. The only time I spent in the steam room was the 20 minutes as part of was a wash and scrub treatment. That is the only reason I am giving a 1 star.
5. We also had to wait for towels as there was none available on entering the spa.
6. I had to get a dressing gown from the front desk as there weren’t any in the lockers as we were led to believe.
I registered a complaint on the day by writing in the book and talking to staff and wrote an email. Both had all my contact details and to this day they have not contacted me to apologise etc.
I paid £25 for a three hour session. The only thing that worked as planned was my scrub and wash treatment. Very poor service.
