The therapist's service and the ambience of the spa were 1st class. The therapist gave me lots of helpful tips to ease the pain of an ongoing back problem. The facial was ok, but I found the back massage much better. The negative points of my experience were that I got lost in the Intercontinental hotel trying to find the spa. There did not appear to be any staff around to help customers, apart from the staff of the ground floor. I was not offered a glass of champagne that I had been looking forward to and one of the receptionist spa staff on duty was very abrupt in her mannerism when I was waiting for my change after purchasing a product - which cost almost £30.00
The spa is beautiful and the treatments were very good, but I felt slightly rushed by the therapist throughout the whole process (i.e. left me to get changed and then came back 30 seconds later to see if I was ready yet!). The massage and facial were very relaxing, but as soon as the treatments were over, the therapist began trying to sell me products. The voucher included a glass of champagne at the end, and as I sipped she took the opportunity to bring out armfuls more of products to push. The experience would've been much better without that. But overall, I left feeling pampered and refreshed.
I had the english rose treatment with my friend. We had a fabulous time. Being a therapist myself I was very impressed by the venue and the therapist. Thank you for a lovely day. Hoping to be there soon
The Intercontinental spa was top-notch. A lovely waiting space where dried fruit snacks and drinks were served while we waited. As there were two of us we were booked into the VIP treatment room where two therapists worked on us simultaneously. The therapy room was spacious with a nice shower cubicle, slippers, bathrobes, even his & her deodorants were provided and the therapist worked on us for the whole hour, unlike many others who tend to leave you 'to undress' for 10-15 min and then take that off your treatment time! All in all, it was a lovely treat; pampering at its best!
I love this spa, I have been here twice before. My only niggle is that we had quite a late appointment and one memeber of staff was quite shirty and basically told us to leave whilst we were getting showered etc. Our treatments finished at 20 mins before the spa closed, you cannot expect someone to get showered and ready in 20mins after they have just spent over £150 with you. All other staff were lovely.
