The jacuzzi wasn't working and hasn't been for 7 weeks but nothing on the website . Just think the whole lot needs up dating . They hadn't ordered us afternoon tea which we had booked
Lovely treatments, what let it down was that the relax room had lots of dirty glasses left in & the dine room (although kept clean of dirty cups & glasses) was very dusty (unacceptable in a 4 star hotel). Jacuzzi wasn't working which was a shame.
I was very disappointed with the spa day at The Holland House. The treatments and staff who did them were good (despite being down two members of staff due to sickness), but I was disappointed with everything else. The jacuzzi was out of order, the pool area was really busy and there was no where to sit by the pool, there were no lockers available as they were all in use and the lunch area was terrible. It seemed to me that the spa was over booked. We ended up having to have our lunch in the public bar (a bit embarrassing as we were dressed in robes) as there was no room in the spa dining area. We booked our lunch for 1.30pm and at 1.50pm we had to try and find someone to find out where it was. When we finally had it (over half an hour late) the sandwich was good but the crisps and soup were so small it was quite pointless. I had about 4 crisps served in an espresso cup and the soup came separately about 5 mins later, again served in a espresso cup so was a pathetic portion. We ended up ordering extra chips as we were all still hungry.
Apart from the treatment rooms the whole area looked very tired, a bit of paint on the walls is needed and the changing rooms were very dated.
By far the worst place I've been for a spa and I wouldn't recommend or go again. I have given 2 stars instead of 1 because the spa treatments were nice with knowledgeable staff which redeemed itself slightly.
Do not go at the weekend! The pool area was massively overbooked, there were no beds available for ages and there were groups of teenagers taking up the swimming lanes and splashing so much you couldn't swim anywhere nearby.
We attempted to go upstairs to the relaxation room for somewhere to sit but this was also full.
Unfortunately the jacuzzi was also broken so further limiting the space.
The redeeming factor was the treatment. We booked them for later in the day (6pm) so by then most people had left the relaxation room while we waited. The treatments were good and there was no hard sell for products which was a nice change.
The staff were mostly cheerful, friendly and informative. The only exception was a particularly miserable man at the spa reception desk when we were leaving!
