Great short break in Harrogate.
Location - very central, easy to walk to central attractions including Bettys, Turkish Baths, Museum, Pump Rooms, restaurants and shops. Leave the car in the hotels ample car park, only £5 per night charge.
Room - light airy modern room , like upmarket Premier Inn Room. Tea and coffee facilities, no fridge. Great bathroom, with bath and rain shower. There is limited free wifi which was not that good, but you can pay for an improved wifi service if you want it.
Food and drink - the evening meal and breakfast were very good. Drinks were not included in the dinner price which was good value at £18 for 3 courses. Good wine selection, slightly higher price than what you would pay in a pub. The 2 bars had a limited selection of ales, but there are plenty of pubs around if you like this.
Staff - very polite and helpful.
Massage - we had 1 hour full body massages included in our package, and these were done by competent and friendly staff.
Pool and gym - we only wanted to use the spa bath and pool but they were both closed on the day due to unforeseen circumstances - disappointing, I think this happens a lot.
Overall - I would return as I thought this package was good value. There is a lot of competition from more luxurious bijou hotels round about but this hotel suited us fine. The hotel is enormous and some parts of it look tired. The dead plants in the hanging baskets did not help the appearance when you compare with the prettiness of Harrogate Town Centre with all its spring plant displays.
A wonderful weekend away with the girls. An absolute bargain. All the good was delicious. Beauty rooms lovely. Swimming area ok, but it got a little busy.
I was disappointed at the appearance of the swimming/gym area, it was not a 'spa' to me. It felt like we were stuck on to the side of this gorgeous hotel in a shed! It felt scruffy, not luxury. The treatments, however were in a different location in the hotel where the atmosphere was very chilled out and relaxing. The treatments were amazing, especially the facial. I probably wouldn't book a spa day here again due to the swimming pool area not being very nice.
