Very central location. Crowded, small salon where there is only one sink, no separate areas for staff and clients and always very busy, but welcoming. There are several different hairdressers who all seem to know eachother well, speaking in Italian and Spanish. My appointment was prebooked but seemed to be assigned to a particular hairdresser only upon arrival as the salon operates more of a walk-in system that is fitting with the salon description. My hairdresser was Belen who was polite and asked me briefly about my desired style. Having explained, I was disappointed to see that the haircut was not going well and with each cut was getting shorter and shorter, but not in accordance with the request. I have been to many salons over the years, some high end and expensive and some budget ones too (including another Splash nearby). Never have I seen an absence of basic hair-cutting technique as I did during this appointment. I really don't like to leave critical reviews, but it needs to be noted that this hairdresser requires further supervision and training. It is difficult to not follow the basic technique of measuring and layering hair instead of cutting rough and blunt on a women's medium length style. Was painful to watch. It is also not usual to blow dry a client's hair fully (15mins+) to try to prove that the cut was even, though it still had to be corrected later and rewashed and styled. Thankfully, after having spoken up about my dissatisfaction, a more senior colleague (Valerio) took over the haircut and manged to rescue it. I am very grateful. My hair is definitely shorter than I'd have liked, but at least the cut is professional and even and much more akin to what I had asked for/other salons I have visited. It is a shame that this was my experience, I guess everyone can have a bad day. Perhaps the first hairdresser is very skilled at mens' haircuts but not womens'. I would like to recommend Valerio for stepping up to act very professionally, rectify the situation and deliver a good haircut and treatment. I appreciate his efforts, tact and skill. It redeemed the experience in the end! Hope this review is ultimately helpful for the salon to continue to improve and prospective clients. If you are after a no-frills cut and are consistently clear about what you expect, I would recommend this salon.
