Hairdresser is located at the top and all treatments are held downstairs in the basement. You have the choice of hot or strip, I chose hot. She was thorough and wasn't too painful.
Voucher was sold as a 1 hour manicure but was completed in 30 mins. She didn't paint the full nail - sides of my nails, parts of cuticle were still left and wasn't removed before applying shellac leaving a bumpy surface, she didn't finsih off by applying shellac to the tip of the nail to seal it in.
This is a busy salon in the heart of Soho, and was absolutely heaving with customers when I arrived - a good sign, I guess! It's more functional than elegant, and not the place for a relaxing pampering session, but the therapy rooms are more than adequate, if not well sound-proofed, and the therapist (Daria?), was superb - knowledgeable, thorough and pleasant. Fantastic value for money, and probably my future port of call for regular maintenance, rather than relaxation.
Once again very happy with the service at Splash Soho. The salon was busy as usual but I didn't have to wait; my therapist, Rosa, was nice and professional; the waxing was quick and not too painful. I had strip wax as always, Rosa suggested I try hot wax sometime as it's less painful, so I might next time. All done in about 15 minutes. Yay!
I should have seen the signs. I had rung to ask a question in advance and, despite speaking to three people, could not find anyone to understand me: they just kept saying "highlights?" in a hopeful voice. So my worst fear was that I'd end up blonde. It was so much worse. I've had keratin treatments at least 4 times over the last 7 or so years: this has probably put me off ever having it done again. I would say that the stylist was friendly. That's the good bit. When I arrived they couldn't find my appointment. Despite me having spoken to them on the phone three times. When I produced my voucher it cleared it up. I was led downstairs to a hot, stuffy basement. The heat they can't do anything about ,but I think the problems I had were exacerbated by the airlessness. The stylist washed my hair (this was fine), painted the nanokeratin on my hair and led me to sit against the wall. Almost immediately my eyes started really stinging and watering and this got so bad that eventually I couldn't see and was in some discomfort. The stylist came over and put a towel over my head which he said would help. I asked if this reaction was normal and he said it was and that he'd had a similar reaction when he had first started doing this treatment but had eventually got used to it. I questioned whether the product would damage my hair twice and he said not. The drying process was fine then he used hot irons to seal in the treatment. He burnt my head and ear five times doing this. Maybe this is unavoidable but it's never happened to me before and by now my eyes hurt so much that this was unbearable . He said sorry with a big smile each time but I was so miserable that it just made everything feel much worse I had thought that this was a healthy product for the hair but anything that causes that sort of reaction is clearly a very strong chemical. My eyes are still sore two days later and I have yet to wash it off - I'm hoping my hair will be okay but I am worried. It's very obvious that this treatment should never be carried out in an unventilated space but I will never be taking this risk again. Despite having had this done four times before and it having been fine, this has put me off ever risking it again. Sometimes you get what you pay for (or less). I couldn't wait to get out into the fresh air. Never again.
