This was the second shellac manicure I've had from this salon. The first manicure lasted 4 weeks and was excellent, so I booked again. I'm not sure if the second one will last as long. I booked a full 1hr shellac manicure, but I didn't have my cuticles done, or the full usual manicure treatment. This was perhaps because the shellac itself takes a long time to apply? However, the therapist was very nice and helpful and picked out a great colour. It was ok for the £18 I paid, but I'm glad I didn't pay the full £28 as I would have expected the other elements of the manicure for that price. I didn't have to wait, and the nail area is nice, separate from the main salon.
As you walk in, you feel like you're entering a very mediocre salon. Not particularly clean, seemed to be very disorganised and VERY loud music upstairs. The downstairs is a little better, but very, very hot - no air conditioning in the hairdressing section. However, where the beauty treatments take place was neither hot nor had loud music playing and was separated by glass doors, so you couldn't hear the music from the rest of the salon. The pedicure chairs were comfortable and had a real potential to offer a lovely experience. We were offered a glass of water, but nothing else - many central London salon's offer a glass of champagne!!
Sadly, though the Shellac pedicure was really not good. My feet weren't scrubbed nor massaged afterwards. The therapist literally scraped my previous shellac off, as she didn't soak them for long enough and then hacked away at my cuticles and dead skin. The used cuticle cutters to trim my nails, rather than nail clippers and consequently I now have MUCH shorter toe nails than I'd like - I really hope that my big toe nails don't start to 'in-grow'. She used a 'cheese-grater' blade to remove the dead skin from my feet, but got so carried away, she actually cut in to my foot. There was no apology from her at all - not even when she was wiping away the blood. Not a pleasant experience at all - probably not helped by the fact that her spoken English was very poor.
I then had my hair put up by Mag (or Meg??) and I couldn't fault her. She knew exactly what she was doing and did it quickly and efficiently. She was nice to chat to and the style lasted all evening. Couldn't fault her.
I wouldn't return here for any beauty treatment - just not the sort of place you really would like to go for this sort of thing. It's more a salon for quick in and out hair cuts.
Despite reading other reviews that mentioned the salon being in a men's hairdressers, I didn't realise it was properly immersed in it! The music was super loud and the place was packed so it was pretty uncomfortable waiting. The therapist was nice and my appointment was on schedule, so no complaints there, but the treatment room itself was very hot and small. The wax itself wasn't the best I've ever had and there were a lot of strays left. Not bad for the price I paid and I booked very last minute but I think in future I will be prepared to pay more elsewhere for overall quality of experience.
Was a little dubious at first as the hair salon upstairs is very loud and busy but found downstairs closed off and much more relaxing. Really lovely, friendly staff, brilliant pedicure and polish, will be back :)
