I visited That Hair Place for a last minute hair cut when my regular salon was fully booked. I wanted a relatively straightforward cut- a piecey long bob with some light layering- which I've had done many times at many different salons over the last few years. I showed the stylist at That Hair Place a few pictures of what I wanted, and she asked me about how long I wanted it, etc. When she was washing my hair, I mentioned that I have a very sensitive scalp, so I was a bit surprised when she kept washing my hair with very hot water, which is rather drying/irritating. She also asked me if I wanted my hair dried straight--again, a bit surprising since all of the images I showed her had a wavy finish. The cut itself turned out fine, but she didn't use any product (which I've come to expect when I get my hair cut at this price point), and after the cut the top of my hair was incredibly sticky, as if she hadn't washed all of the shampoo out of my hair. She finished the cut with curls-- again, I was expecting something very loose and piecey like the pictures I had shown her, but I ended up with ringlets. It didn't really matter though, because I had to go home and wash the shampoo out of my hair anyway. After washing and restyling my hair, the cut itself was fine, but the overall experience was disappointing. Next time I will just wait for an opening at my regular salon.
Staff were very friendly and offered me a drink. Clean, bright, cosy looking space. However the appointment started 20 minutes late and the hairdresser cut quite a bit more off than I had asked for. She did frequently ask for feedback and let me know what she was doing as she was doing it to make sure I was happy, she just cut too much off in the first instance. I also felt I had to direct her quite a lot. In the end I didn't really have the haircut I'd wanted, and it was impossible to fix something that is too short.
I'd booked the haircut as 'Medium' hair even though my hair is apparently 'Long' - Treatwell needs to make it much clearer what constitutes for different lengths when there are price brackets. in the end we reached a compromise and I was charged £40 instead of £45.
