Been here twice. Nice spa, a little small so can be busy/loud when there's a lot of people. The massage was good and the 2 hours use of spa facilities within the stress buster package is plenty.
Overall a good & reasonably price spa within the area.
I booked a massage with access to the spa facilities as a nice thing to do during the day on my birthday. I booked well in advance, but unfortunately on the day of my treatment the spa called to say that the massage therapist wasn’t available and I wouldn’t be able to have my massage that day. They did grant me access to the spa facilities, but, though they make a nice extra to enjoy with a treatment, they’re not really something you’d do on their own on a special occasion. I did reschedule the full body massage for another day and it was great, but all in all I wouldn’t book here again as they just weren’t reliable.
It would’ve been helpful to have the spa sign posted in the centre as it wasn’t clear that was where the spa was located.
The therapist was unwelcoming in that she said all the right words but gave the impression the appointment was using up her time that could be better spent elsewhere. There was a bizarre moment where I was asked to smell the oil of my choice without being told what each does. Had I not have had a similar but professional experience elsewhere this wouldn’t have made any sense. The other spa explained that smell is used as it is your body’s way of deciding what it needs. Without the context, the request seemed out of place.
The massage got off to a bad start when the therapist squirted cold oil on me shocking my body rather than the start to a relaxing treatment. About halfway in I complained about the temperature of the room. Despite playing with a few buttons on the wall the temperature remained too cold to be lying practically naked and being massaged with a cold oil. The massage technique itself was fine if not a little inexperienced but that may be because I have experienced many different massages. Or for example, if I can feel nails against my skin, they’re likely too long or the technique should be altered.
The ambience started off well and then ruined by external loud conversation drifting into the treatment room.
The treatment ended by requesting full payment for a mediocre massage whilst trying to relax in a freezing cold room. Practically impossible given I am recovering from the flu and had goose bumps on my skin the entire time. To add insult to injury I was presented with a loyalty card which I left on the counter. A very disappointing experience when I was already feeling ill and wanted a professional and comfortable massage for a birthday treat.
