Me and my partner stayed for one night for his birthday treat, the room was lovely (room38) apart from view out of our window, where there was an old bath, plaster n tiles scattered from the room being redecorated below us, and our door locked but didn't shut very well letting light in. The spa was very nice but we thought the steam room was supposed to be aromatherapy scented but actually smelt a little fusty , the best part about our break was the lovely carvery and breakfast we had which was delicious, so overall the stay was ok but don't know if I would stay again.
We were told that they had over booked us for the spa and afternoon tea would be in the bar, the 'spa' was so small we were in there for literally half an hour, the changing rooms were tiny. The hotel rooms were nice and the afternoon tea, the carvery was awful. Staff in the bar were lovely but Receptionist was rude. overall just an ok experience would definitely not go back though.
Spa facilities good but a bit small. General cleanliness in spa was poor with soaking wet towels in the toilet and old water in the outdoor pool. Hotel room was clean but quite cold as the heating took a long time to warm up. Meal portions were very good and the quality was OK. Staff friendly but not prepared to offer that extra special service. Overall an average experience but if you want something special or better value then would recommend elsewhere.
This spa break was booked as a 'girls break'. Hotel and room was perfect. All staff were so attentive. Wonderful warm welcome, with lovely touches added i.e port and chocolates awaiting in room! Shown the spa facilities and, after indulging in outdoor hot tub with our glass of bubbly and enjoying the sauna, steam and relaxation room, we had a wonderful afternoon tea in spa area. Evening two course meal and breakfast in restaurant was lovely. We'd like to thank the waiter who served us as he was so busy doing everything but yet gave us plenty of time to explain menu etc to us. Will definitely be booking again.
