Spent a weekend at the hotel and spent both days at the spa, the pool was lovely and the steam/sauna and jacuzzi were all lovely and clean. I had a deep tissue massage which certainly lived up to its name, sometimes the firmness is not hard enough to get all the knots out but Sandra who treated me was fantastic and spent a lot of time and energy on my shoulders trying to get rid of the knots. My only negative with the spa facilities is that their is no spinning machine for your swimming gear or plastic bags to put them in, this is really needed as otherwise you either have to bring 2 lots of swimwear or put back on a soggy pair the next day!
My toes had been neglected for some time but the therapist did a lovely job on them. Into the bargain she was such a pleasant young lady. Very enjoyable experience.
On arrival we were asked to fill in a questionnaire giving details of our preferences for the treatments then taken down to the spa area. We were asked to enter our details into the book at the spa reception, we could not remember our number plate and asked if we could give a partial number plate, we were abruptly told no so my friend had to leave the spa area and go back upstairs and out into the carpark to get this info, why couldn't this info have been taken while we were still in reception ? Then we were asked to leave a deposit for the robes which is something I have never had to do before in any other spa, on handing over £40 cash I asked for a receipt and was told we do not give receipts which I found a little strange. As our treatments were not at the same time I stayed in the relaxation room while my friend had a massage, the relaxation room is at an end of a corridor with lots of doors on it and all I could hear was doors opening and slamming shut, not very relaxing! I went in for my massage and the lady asked me questions about how I would like the massage, I explained I didn't want my neck massaged and she asked why, I told her I had had surgery on my neck and didn't feel comfortable with her massaging it and she proceeded with the massage, all the information I gave her was on the form I had filled in in reception on my arrival so it's obvious this is a complete waste of time as the therapist clearly did not read it. The massage was good. When we went for our afternoon tea the food arrived and we had to ask for some vegetarian sandwiches as most of them contained meat, maybe checking people's dietary requirements is something you should have checked on arrival? I asked for cheese or egg and the waitress told me I could have cheese and tomato to which I replied just cheese please, I don't like tomato, when the sandwiches arrived they were cheese and tomato and also two of the other sandwiches contained just salad. it was also a little disappointing in regards to the seating around the pool area, as this is supposed to be a relaxing day it would have been better if there was more seating available.
