This is a great place - brilliant at the actual haircutting, of course, but far more than that besides. It feels like dropping round to your (much more stylish) best friend's front room while they've got their (much more interesting) mates round - and an impromptu photography exhibition up as a bonus. It's friendly, relaxed and everything from the work on the walls to the tray on which your coffee arrives (not to mention the coffee itself) displays their understated but impeccable taste. Very highly recommended.
I've been with my long-time hairdresser, Ian, for 18 years, and couldn't be happier for him - and me! - with the move to The Lion & The Fox last year. I love the look and location of the salon - so different from everywhere else, and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Ian is totally brilliant and always does a superb job with my hair. As a very happy and satisfied client, I highly recommend this salon. It's first-class.
I've been getting my hair cut by the marvellous Ian Florey for almost 15 years now. He took me from an uninspiring shoulder-length bob, through many and various styles of shorter and cropped hair. I trust him implicitly and he knows that, if he ever asks what style I'd fancy, I always say that I don't mind and he can do whatever he likes (with one of exception that I cannot write in a review!) I have moved with Ian over the years from previous salons, and it was a breath of fresh air to go to The Lion and the Fox for the first time. It's not like any salon I've been to before and, for some reason I can't put my finger on, the ambience in the waiting area reminds me of my younger years in Paris. Come to think of it, maybe it's because I spent a lot of time hanging around in artists' studios - that might be it! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and seems genuinely pleased to see you. I look forward to my visits enormously, and the buzz I feel stepping out with a new hair style.
