Our massages were nice and the spa overall was ok, but the indoor hot tub is not heated which was a shame. The hotel room was ok overall. The restaurant really let the ambience down as it played no music which made a real difference. Booking our massages however was hard work, as staff kept saying different things.
Overall, I found the experience good but the hotel was rather disorganised and checking in so late in the afternoon meant that using the spa faclities was rather difficult as luggage had to be left in your car or with reception. The spa was pretty full all afternoon so be prepared to wait to use he facilities. The facial was excellent and the package was good value for money. Charges were applied where they shouldn't have been so this took time to go through with staff which again highlighted disorganisation.
This was my second visit to the New Leaf spa. My first visit was with my husband, who was new to spa days and treatments. He really enjoyed the day and was comfortable and relaxed in this environment. So, when my 20 year old son wanted to know what I enjoyed so much about spa days and wanted to know what a proper massage was all about, I had no hesitation in booking a Whispering Willow day for us to spend some mother/son time together. As a keen swimmer and climber he thoroughly appreciated the deep tissue massage and was impressed with how the therapist worked on 2 areas of muscle that he knew felt tight without him saying anything! The facilities are very clean and constantly being monitored by staff. Staff are attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Lunch was lovely with a nice balance of spicier/plainer foods which suited us. The venue is lovely and relaxing - especially the outdoor hot-tub and bean bags to sit in the sheltered garden. I hesitate to recommend it as it could make it busier the next time I want to visit!
i really enjoyed my day spa it was so relaxing and friendly , i have never relaxed so much in my life i would reccomend it to others and hope to go again 1 day x
After Booking through Whanda for "sleep and spa" for sunday night and monday day i contacted the hotel to enquire about treatments and was told that that they were fully booked for treatments on the sunday and that there were no therapists on the Monday, and as it was a friends 40th birthday we were a little disappointed. But on the Monday we saw people going for treatments and was told there were a couple of spaces for treatments, so was a little disgruntled as we could have booked our friend a treatment for her birthday.
We also found that if we had booked directly through the hotel it would have been cheaper ( we paid 49.00 per person 2 sharing a room = 98.00.) the hotel was charging 67.00 for the room at the time, but was only use the spa area until 11.am instead of 2.00pm which doesnt warrant the extra, we were told that we had been upgraded to an excecutive room but i wouldnt have called it that, it was a basic room but was clean and nicely decorated. The swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi area were a little grubby and in need of a nightly clean down and would have been nice to have had some relaxing music piped through.
Food at the hotel was very nice, staff not as welcoming as would have liked, we tried to sit out and eat to make the most of the lovely weather but there was an over powering smell of faeces ( it wasnt the country air).
The hotel is nicely situated for lovely strolls into Clumber Park and we did make the best of it due to our friends 40th birthday.
I did contact Whanda and the hotel straight away after having booked about the price difference and was told by Whanda that someone would contact me regarding the issue , but suprise no one did, it would have been nice if they had tried to make it a little special for our friend but they didnt.
My advice contact the place that is on offer directly and you may save money.
