Every birthday and Christmas for 7 years, my husband asks me what I want. I tell him "Oh, a Spa Day please!" And every year, he gets me an apron or a book or tea towels. But finally, this Christmas, after me threatening to never cook him dinner ever, ever again, he got me vouchers for The Secret Spa. I run my own business, so I'm frequently up until the small hours finishing an order, or staring bleary-eyed at my computer as I type invoices and try to balance my books. It's stressful. I'm stressed. Or at least I was, until I visited the Secret Spa on Friday. I turned up very early (8:40am), so initially I was wandering around outside the building trying to find the right entrance, or a person to book in with. Eventually I asked a guy who had arrived to do some maintenance and he pointed me to the right door (from the main road it's not immediately obvious which entrance to go to). Once I was inside, Sarah soon came and said hi and I was shown up to my snug area, where breakfast was already laid out for me: Weetabix, fruit, a croissant, orange juice, tea and coffee. She then took me on a tour of the facilities, and was even kind enough to find me a spare swimming cozzie when I mentioned I hadn't brought mine. (I'm so glad that she did because one of the highlights of my day was the Steam Room. I'm quite stiff and sore from a bad back injury and bits of arthritis here and there and the Steam Room, Sauna and Jacuzzi did a wonderful job of loosening me up.) I also had the opportunity to visit the gym (fab treadmill) and swam in the pool. After my morning of exercise and joint-loosening (the heated loungers are amazing - I need one of these!) I had a shower and headed back to my snug for lunch: jacket potato, cheese, salad, tomato, basil and olive pasta, coleslaw, hummus, warm bread, olives with feta cheese and a lovely chocolate fudge cake with cream for dessert. There was also a glass of pink sparkling wine which went down a little too well. After lunch, I headed down to the treatment room to begin my treatments. I had a Balinese body massage and a Decleor facial. Both were sublime. I didn't even care that the body massage included the head and neck, which involved putting oil in my hair, something I'd have to get on the bus home with! In fact the massage was so relaxing, I woke myself up snoring at one point, something Sarah was polite enough not to acknowledge but I'm just pleased I didn't drool everywhere. The facial was incredible - my skin looked so much brighter and healthier afterwards. I would absolutely come back for another day - there are several other treatments I simply HAVE to try and this is a place you cannot just visit once. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Small friendly and helpful staff, everything was available that we required for a enjoyable and relaxing day. We both enjoyed our treatments and also our lunch, which was served in nice comfortable room. We will recommend it to our family and friends and will also be returning again ourselves.
I thoroughly enjoyed my Decleor facial and wouldn't hesitate to book again. The secret spa at village farm is a true hidden gem and the staff are really friendly and helpful.
We booked a deal through living social, and it's the second time I have booked a spa deal. I have been to the village farm before a couple of times but a few years ago, and enjoyed the experience so thought we would book again. I found the spa to be a very nice place and we used the gym too, it was a little dated but pretty well equipped and the guy there was very nice. I enjoyed the salt scrub, but it wasn't 35-45 minutes as advertised, it was only about 10 minutes. I had an additional facial too which combined with the salt scrub was just less than an hour. The lunch was really nice, and the cake and fizz were nice too. The only negative comment I could make was that the lady that greeted us didn't tell us her name and just kind of met us in a doorway in the changing rooms and didn't sort of welcome us in any way, also she made reference to us being living social customers a number of times, and when I mentioned the relaxation room upstairs which I had been to previously she informed us that this room was only accessible to FULL paying customers and not living social. She also proceeded to tell us how the salon makes no money whatsoever from living social and that it is not worth them doing it really? I was confused... If they don't need living social then why bother, and why be so negative about it? I am in the beauty industry myself and feel that it was un necessary to say such things to client, who even though we got the day discounted my friends and I still spent a combined amount of around £300 at the salon that day.
Group of 4 ladies who have enjoyed a lot of different spa's but this was without the best spa day. Lovely staff, great treatments, facilities not too crowded, excellent lunch - maybe cream with the pudding would be nice! Also a jug of water. It that's the most constructive comment, you can tell it was a great day. Did what is should, all totally relaxed and chilled and will book again. The chocolate in the gown pocket is a nice touch!
