Thought I was going to the gorgeous Priory building for 5* spa day, but got sent to a small 3* leisure centre next door instead. With the clientele of Debenhams ambling about vacantly in robes eating muffins in packets from the 6th form canteen there. Got great massage from Sabrina who was wonderful though.
My spa treatment was excellent, but the spa itself is poor quality. The changing rooms were the gents and were a mess. There were no wet clothes bags, nor any toiletries in the changing rooms.
The steam room wasn't working due to maintenance work and the whole pool area was grim.
The relaxation room was lovely, but rammed, so we couldn't use it.
The tea quality was also average. The vegetarian sandwiches were two slices of bread with tomatoes in it only !!
I found the cleanliness well below acceptable. The changing room was not up to standard. The Wall's smelt of damp and damp damage was visible. The jacuzzi was not working fully and was cold. I was not informed in arrival that there was a problem. I would not recommend this facility to a friend and I will not be returning. It was a waste of my money. The massage was the only nice part of the day
The facilities were not great. First the lockers: shared room of barely 2 square metres. Clear glass on the shower door so no privacy. Locker box very small and too high to reach, you have to stand on the bench. Next the pool was barely 1 metre deep and it was not possible to swim. The jacuzzi was cold hence no one was using it. The cakes with the afternoon tea were not good, we ended up not eating them.
On the positive side the massage room and therapist were good and the staff friendly.
Fantastic, welcoming, enthusiastic staff. Treatments we great. Facilities were slightly lacking in that the jacuzzi wasn't operational, however, we were offered a complimentary spa pass as compensation. Cleanliness wasn't to as high a standard as I would have expected. Decor and finishing could do with an update. However the overall ambience created by the staff made it a very enjoyable experience.
