The hotel was AMAZING for this price, but the spa was smaller than I expected. The pool was very clean and a good temperature, but was very crowded with only a handful of people in it. You could swim, but not in a straight line. The jacuzzi was out of order on our visit and I did not try the sauna but the steam room was great - it had a refreshing minty smell! The ambience only got a 3* because we had to persuade the staff to give us free robes and there was a hen party in so the lounge was quite busy. I'd definitely go back for the £99 offer, but maybe not if it was more expensive.
My boyfriend and I went to the Nuffeild for a little treat for his birthday. I saw a deal on wahanda for a nights stay for £99 for the both of us and as we didn't want to travel far we thourght this would be a nice get away. At the time of booking I didn't realise that the £99 was not including a spa treatment but was only a nights stay. I had to contact the hotel many times as I wanted to make it as special as possible. The deal was only for a Sunday evening and we could only check in at 3pm and the spa closed at 5pm and the next day check out was at 11am. The time span didn't leave much time to have many treatments. Once I arrived at the hotel I wasn't sure what to expect. Once we pulled up I was in ore! The hotel is absolutely beautiful! It's old vs new! The views where spectacular! We had a spa treatment and we really enjoyed it although we wished we had taken a longer one. The staff where so helpful and really lovely! Down to earth and professional. When we left the next day we where quite sad to leave as we really felt refreshed and replenished! We will definately be returning again soon!
Easy location to get to from London, just a 30 min train ride and then a short 10min taxi. But was let down by the facilities and some of the staff. Our room (and many of the rooms) faced two parking lots. Especially as our window was above the delivery entrance, we were woken early in the morning (from 5:30am - 8am) by delivery trucks and trolleys. Also, you can hear people talking in the hallways in the mornings. Access to the spa is external to the hotel, so you'll need to walk outside at night/winter. Checkout is a rather early 11am and many of the staff members were not knowledgeable (re time of breakfast?), or not particularly warm or friendly. This isn't a luxurious hotel stay experience.
I was very disappointed with the spa area (pool, steam and sauna). It looked old and in need of a refurbishment. The treatment rooms were nice and comfortable, and the therapists were good. It was a shame that the spa was not part of the actual hotel because I got the impression that it was. The afternoon tea was enjoyable.
