I visited with my friend and I speak for both of us and would definitely recommend this hotel. The view from the front extension is lovely and the location of the hotel is ideal. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I used the spa facilities everyday and also had a treatment which was lovely. The breakfast had a good selection and the evening meal was a 6 course taster menu which was really tasty. The only issue is the lack of parking but this seems to be the case with all hotels in Oban. I will definitely be back to this hotel.
It was lovely in general. Bit pricey once there. The hot wasn't working as it was outside and the massage chair wasn't working either. Bit all in all a lovely place and the staff were great x
I bought the spa day as part of our summer holiday to the Oban area. My husband is a keen hill-walker... having bagged 20+ Munroes in the past year his intention was to climb a few more on our holiday. Not wishing to be a Munro widow I decided that a relaxing day at a spa would be ideal. I paid £77.50 which took into account a discount voucher of £5 as a new member, the normal price was £82.50.
I feel this is vastly overcharged as
a) there is no pool at this hotel,
b) the hot tub was out of order,
c) the steam room & sauna are the smallest I have ever seen,
d) there is no seperate changing rooms just a curtain pole with a ripped curtain hanging loosely from it!
I went into the room where the hot tub was situated to meet a man in a collar & tie who informed me that the hot tub was not working as he was cleaning it. I then had a seat in the electric massage chair which he found riotously funny and proceded to inform Siobahn the therapist that I had been in the chair for most of the morning! There were no other facilities that I felt were up to standard so whilst waiting on my therapist to set up I felt I perfectly within my rights to sit in said chair. I found his manner rude and uncalled for.
Thankfully the therapist Siobhan was a delight and carried out the treatments in a professional manner. I felt more relaxed after spending time with her.
The half bottle of champagne was good as were the strawberries which were both quaffed in the lounge whilst watching seals frollick in the bay!
On looking at the price-list for the spa at the hotel the treatments that I received would only have cost £65 and a half bottle of champagne would not have cost £17.50 (full price without discount voucher)
Overall I felt let down by the spa day, I did express my opinion to Siobhan on the day to which she apologised.
In future I think I would just book treatments directly with the spa rather than going for the spa day.
