I booked a 30 minute massage but the therapist did not return to the room to start the treatment for nearly 15 minutes so I only received a very short massage.
Initially it was really hard to get through to book the spa treatments and discuss early check in, however once I had contacted the venue via social media someone from the hotel called me back.
I was then offered to upgrade my room to one of their king rooms with a bottle of prosecco for an extra £40 which I did.
We arrived at midday and the receptionist said it was too early to check in, we knew it was but it was fine we wanted to use the spa facilities before our massages later in the afternoon. We left our bags behind he reception desk.
The spa itself was lovely and clean, lots of options, the steam and saunas were lovely. My massage was great just wish I had gone for hard rather than medium and my friend enjoyed hers too. The only niggle was that the shower in the changing room was cold and we could only find one toilet in the whole spa.
I wouldn’t recommend buying food from the spa, we were told to order our food for a specific time which we did however it arrived almost 15 minutes passed the time that we ordered. We ordered the veggie platter, the houmous looked like it had been sat around all day, the vegetables were dry and the wraps were mainly red onion not much else, so for £35 for a platter and 2 glasses of prosecco it really wasn’t worth it.
We then proceeded to get our room key to find that our bags were still behind reception, not an ideally secure location and they were apologetic that they hadn’t been put in our room.
The room was lovely and big, had a small balcony which would have been great to enjoy but there was a thunderstorm! Only one robe so we called to reception and they had to get on from the spa which was stained from the products, it was clean though. We had a coffee machine which was great but only 3 pods and one of those were decaf. There was a bible beside the bed, didn’t think this was a thing anymore!
The 3 course evening meal was absolutely fantastic, could not fault it and we paid for our wine on the night as check out would be hectic the next day.
However, breakfast wasn’t that good. Basic continental products and no option was offered to order hot food different to what was on the buffet, no poached eggs for me that morning!
Overall a pleasant stay, nice surroundings, decor is not modern but fits the style of the hotel chain.
Would definitely go back
Myself and my friend booked in for the 2 night ultimate spa break. First impression were really great, the spa area was lovely , clean and relaxing . The ladies offering the treatments very friendly and professional. The only thing I can fault is the cleanliness of the toilets in the spa.
However, the hotel it’s self was very out dated and the service was a little slow and disorderly. Our room was not what we expected from the promotional materials displayed. Firstly we booked a twin room but arrived to a double. From a distance things looked clean but after a closer inspection things such as the ice holder, tea tray, chairs and mirrors had obviously not been properly cleaned.
We did have to chase up most of the thing included in out offer such as the Prosecco and afternoon tea.
The food at the restaurant was also not as expected, many of the things on my menu that we ordered did not arrive as they were described, for example I order stem broccoli, green beans and sun roasted tomatoes, what was brought to me was ordinary broccoli and carrots. No one mentioned it would be different when I ordered this. When I did question the member of staff they were not sure what was actually on the menu it’s self, this also applied when we were querying the ice cream selection. To add the the poor restaurant service most of the glasses were dirty and had to as for clean glasses on many occasions.
Many of the photos that have been displayed for advertising are a false reflection of the hotel and the food.
Overall our spa break was lovely and we would return for this, however we would not say in the hotel or eat in restaurant again, as it was over priced for what was actually offered.
My stay at the hotel was a bit underwhelming. The hotel rooms were a bit dated and in need of a re do. The spa treatment and the spa itself was lovely although the massage was more like a sports massage than a aromatherapy massage. Slightly disappointed that there was children in the spa/ pool but overall it was a nice experience.
