Lovely experience will come again
Lovely staff and facilities. Really great atmosphere and the treatments were divine, I could feel my stress ebb away throughout the day .
Spa treatment was amazing, though a little delayed starting, as the previous person was late, but it was one of the best massages I've ever had and my girlfriend said it was the best she's ever had. There were 2 large hen parties there when we were, so the spa and pool areas were quite busy. The facilities were really good, there was a herbal sauna which I've never seen before and an ice scrub barrel. One of the foot baths didn't work when my girlfriend tried it, but I'm not sure if that was because it was too full. The tour of the spa at the start was nice, but we felt that showing us inside the relaxation room stopped it being fully relaxing for those in there, as they keep getting interrupted by tours. It would have been better to just say this is the relaxing room when you get to the door without going in. There could be more chairs/loungers round the pool, as the pool was very busy when we were there. We bought lunch in the spa which was ok, but overpriced. We should have been able to check in at 3pm, but when we went to check in at 4 the room still wasn't ready, so we waited in the bar and bought a drink (would have been nice if the drink was free, seeing as we should have been able to check into our room an hour ago, but it wasn't). There was no bar staff for about 10 minutes too, but he apologised for the wait when he got there, so we didn't mind that. We got into our room at half 4 which was clean and tidy. My girlfriend wasn't impressed with the fruit bowl, as it only had one strawberry, one plum, one banana, one apple and one tangerine, she thought there would have been more strawberries for our prosecco. The mirror in the bathroom is heated so it doesn't fog up, that was clever. The evening dinner had VERY slow service, we got in at 8 and we finished at after 10, considering it wasn't busy as well was strange that food took so long. The starters and Mains were really enjoyable and tasty, my girlfriends desert was nice too. But my desert, the chocolate mouse, was terrible, it wasn't light and fluffy it was thick and lumpy. Slept well, breakfast was great and good service. Checkout no problem.
Reception could have been better. Seemed a bit confused but apologetic and friendly. Manager was very attentive. Bit of a mixup with times of treatments but not a problem. Staff always available to deal with questions and very helpful. Refreshments not kept topped up but overall very clean, comfortable and relaxing spa.
Lovely new facilities at the spa, although the hotel was a little tired in comparison it was still a lovely stay :)
