Room was lovely, food was excellent but pool was a big let down as sharing tables with a group of lads as all other seats taken is not what we expected. Not relaxing at all sitting in a hard backed chair. Massage was probably the best I've had.
My sister and I came for a spa day using a wowcher costing £77- the usual price being £177.
On arrival the building from the outside looked lovely but the inside facilities no way matched its exterior. In the reception area on arrival the first clue to the quality of the day was a pile of used robes left on a chair .
We found that our bookings for treatments hadn't been written down as quoted on the phone . We were booked in for 2 treatments (1 each ) at 9am and the other two treatments had been made for late afternoon which we couldn't use and was not what was quoted / arranged on the phone . The manager spoke to us and was very apologetic and offered to reimburse us for the 2 treatments we couldn't use which was satisfactory .
We were given a robe and towel each but no slippers ( as usually provided at a 'luxury spa'. This seems a small detail but it was important as the floors we had to walk in bare feet in the changing room , the corridor and at one point walking through the hotel (!) was not clean or hygienic .
Inside the changing room it seemed dirty , paint peeling off the woodwork , old and not what you wood expect from a luxury spa. Inside the pool area the codebsatin was running down the wall and dropping from the roof on to the floor and into magazines left out to read which was disgusting ! Even the water cooler handle was broken. The whole place seemed shabby and in much need of a make over .
Our first treatments were back and shoulder massages , the rooms were immediately off the pool area and very weirdly designed . The room I was treated in had a door to outside which you could see daylight through and it was absolutely freezing . The massage was ok but seemed very amateurish, I didn't enjoy it at all.
We had lunch in the hotel which was pleasant enough - but the service was slow and erratic.
The whole experience reminded me of Faulty Towers !
I would definitely NEVER return to the hotel again and will NEVER recommend the spa to any friends . The reduced price that we paid (£77 for two ) could be accepted but if I have paid £170+ for a spa day for two I would have been outraged .
Dirty, no luxury or pampering at all and organisation was not good .
I left , went home and had a shower to feel clean again . Not relaxed , not pampered and NO TREAT at all.
VERY DISAPPOINTED
