I really liked Martine's and have been there a few times for treatments. The service is always good, and the treatments very relaxing. Easy parking out the back makes it really accessible.
I have started to visit Martine's Beauty Spot regularly now as the packages are such excellent value, I can spoil myself more often after a hard days work! I have a facial, which is so relaxing and (have actually fell asleep before now I have been so relaxed!) It includes cleansing, different gorgeous smelling creams massaged into my skin, face mask, eye treatment and a should/neck massage. Then I have a pedicure which consists of exfoiliating, short massage and nails trimmed/painted. The same for my hands/nails - so now my hands and feet are always in tip top condition!! All this in a relaxing atmosphere with gentle music. The staff are always welcoming and Dawn works so hard to make each visit an enjoyable one. Thank you everyone - I will see you next week !
Take two package is fabulous for the price at this salon. Having never been to Abingdon I thought it was a lovely town and the salon is in the heart of Abingdon so its in a great spot. We both had a one hour facial and a 1/2 hr massage together in a double treatment room and it was lovely and so relaxing with music and a water fountain to make us sleepy! We also added a pedicure as they do lots of deals and had a 2 for 1 pedicure offer. The girls are all lovely and make you feel really welcome. We left feeling very happy and would go back. Also would recommend spice vally next to them for fabulous indian food!
This is a great place for Guinot Hydrademie faciasl as they always give you lots of samples and a free gift. My husband and I both had a hydrademie and a full body massage in the same room and it was fabulous. We both left with free samples and a guinot toner. I will return as they seem to know a lot about skincare. Its a very busy salon but we both left feeling really relaxed and well pampered! My only complaint would be its hard to book as they are busy and they have free parking but busy too! Its a great little salon thou and they do great treatments that we can all afford!
At Martines you get what you pay for. The treatments/offers are incredibly cheap and that was the service and experiance i recieved. The environment and equiptment wasnt great. I believe they are due to go under a referbishment which is well needed. Everything seemed very old, cheap and reminded me of a teaching/college set up. Very basic. I had booked in for the Holiday Mix which consisted of 3 half hour treatments, i opted for the wrap, massage and facial. As an add on to this, i booked a pedicure seperately to have after the treatments. Basically, all 4 treatments were done at the same time. example - started the facial, then put in in the body wrap, then started on my feet (full pedicure was donw lying down!), then carried on with the facial, then completed the pedicure (i paid for a 1 hour deluxe pedicure, i wouldnt even call what i recieved a mini express pedicure - no cut down, no foot soak, no booties and french polish was very poor), while the pedicure was drying i had to strategically turn over so the massage can start, then once the massage was complete, the facial was then completed. What i found very strange and very uncomfortable was i could tell i had various therapists working on me (i was never introduced to any therapists) and was left unattended for 5-10 minute periods at a time. It was clear that the therapists were running between rooms doing various clients and dealing wtih the reception. At all times, i had wet cotton wool over my eyes so i couldnt see what was going on and who exactly was doing the treatments. Also, i asked a few questions regarding what is contained in the products being used and all i was told was 'essential oils'. Also, when we arrived no health check questionnaire was done, no drink offered. I actually had to ask for water following my treatments. All in all, i paid £32.50 in total for the treatments i received so i cant really complain on that front, however, its clear how Martines can offer treatments so cheaply and make money as you dont have a dedicated therapist and corners are cut on the treatments so you dont actually have the full experiance. I expected to have at least 2 and a half hours worth of treatments. I was in and out within 1 hour 45!
