Had a lovely few hours in TLC treating myself to a luxury manicure and pedicures. The staff were lovely and friendly. The treatments lovely, my hands and feet are so smooth. However, the shellac on my nails doesn’t have a smooth finish - it is bumpy, some nails have air bubbles, and the tips have slipped.
Very friendly staff in a clean and welcoming environment. There was a good range of colours and the process of getting the gel manicure was enjoyable. I was made to feel very welcome and offered tea/coffee etc.
The price paid for the gel manicure was £10 as it was one of their monthly offers.
I went for a lovely deep red colour and started to get my nails filed. I loved the shape of them after they were filed.
The bits of nail that got filed were still attached to my nails and didn't get neatened up, so when the polish went on, those bits also got painted, leaving a ragged edge that kept getting caught on things. I mentioned a particularly big bit and that got filed off but as it was after the polish was applied it left a raw edge. The colour looked good in the salon, but went I left and saw the nails in the day light it looked as though it was applied unevenly and could do with another coat. Each nail had darker streaks of polish on them where it was thicker. The polish started quite far from the nail bed so it looked as though there was a weeks growth even though they had just been done.
After two days the polish started to peel away from the nail (at the side of the cuticle, not at the tips). This happened the last time I was there but I though it was because the polish was painted over my cuticles. The polish wasn't painted over my cuticles this time but the same thing happened. I don't know why it happened, I wasn't doing anything that would have accelerated the polish coming off eg cleaning, washing lots of dishes, having a bath etc. In fact I was on annual leave and doing my best to do nothing at all but relax. So for that to happen in a short space of time again, and the patchy colour, was really disappointing.
So the staff were lovely and friendly, very welcoming and the premises clean, tidy and fresh looking. I loved the shape of my nails after they were filed, they looked great. But for me the main reason I would go to a salon rather than doing my nails at home is to get a more professional look and a longer lasting result, but unfortunately that wasn't my experience.
