All of the staff were nice and accommodating. They offered me a drink and seated me right away. I had acrylic nail extensions with shellac and also eyebrow threading.
This was my first time visiting tropic beauty, but not my first time getting acrylic nails as I usually always have them, but was away from home so needed somewhere in Bristol that would be able to do them for me. I feel bad writing this as the staff were very nice, however I do feel that’s it’s important for them to know and then hopefully improve so that people will come back :). The process was really rough in application, my finger bled and the electric drill kept burning and hurting my nails. I did explain this and the lady did tone it down abit so the pain wasn’t as bad. It seemed as if the lady was unsure of what she was doing with the drill etc however she said she has worked in nails for 17 years so I was abit confused. However, she did ask me the shape I wanted length etc and listened to my needs. The acrylic was applied really thick on my nails and I don’t want to be picky but I’ve never had it that thick before so I just asked if she could file it down and make it thinner on the nails as it looked thick and chunky. The lady did so with the electric drill. The nail process took just over 2 hours to Apply (it says 2 hours on website so that’s ok), some might think it’s lengthy but I was pre warned and it showed the lady wanted to take her time and ensure it was good. By the end of my nails being done I was happy with the finished result length shape etc. However 2 hours after I got home one nail fell off, and by 24 hours all my acrylic nails had fallen off bar one on my thumb. I wasn’t doing any unusual activity and it seemed as if my nails weren’t prepped properly before application which I did think when watching. I have acrylic nails a lot and this has never happened before, especially to this extent. I didn’t have time to get them fixed as I had to go back home the next day so I was left with no acrylic nails within 24 hours of having them applied and paid for.
Secondly, I had my eyebrows threaded. Before the process I pointed out that I just wanted everywhere cleaned up (in between eyebrow and underneath) but I had one spot which I wanted to grow out so asked the lady if she wouldn’t mind avoiding threading that area which she agreed to. When the threading was done I noticed hardly any hair had been threaded especially in between my eyebrows so the lady did it again and by then more had gone however still some left, I felt as if I had been a pain so I didn’t mention it again which I know I probably should have. Once I left and got into my car my eyebrows were stinging and I noticed 2 small cuts under my eyebrow from the threading and also a rash above the eyebrows from where they’d been threaded (the rash could be me as I have sensitive skin, however I haven’t had this reaction to threading before).
I feel guilty writing a bad review as I would never want to bash someone’s work and their business. I’m just hoping that I’m showing my experience to them and they’ll be able to improve on it and therefore improve their business. Like I said, lovely accommodating staff who would do anything to help, I just don’t think they’ve got the nails etc right yet. If they’re able to improve this I would like to come back and give them a second chance. Thank you x
Great value for money, had an exceptional gel manicure and being NYE, the salon was happy to accommodate my last-minute booking and even offered a glass of prosecco on arrival! Looking forward to visiting again
