Since moving to Liverpool I have been for a number of pedicures and this is the first spa-style pedicure I have received. The treatment is performed in a proper spa pedicure chair which is very comfortable and allows of easy soaking and rinsing of the feet. The treatment includes a foot soak, exfoliating scrub, mask, hard skin filing, cuticle care, toe nail shape and OPI polish. A great treatment, I will be back.
Huge disappointment! Never again! Went for mani and pedi for a special occasion. None of the staff smiled during my whole visit. I had my nails done by Jo. She was seemingly working under huge pressure. She rolled her eyes as I didn't chose the colour in a second. She did nothing on the cuticles although I was told this is part of service when booking. I had to persuade her. Btw Vodoo does COMPLETE MANICURE and Shelac for the same price. She did one of the nails very badly. Feet Shelac was ok, nothing special. After doing feet, Jo disappeared without saying goodbye. Her colleague asked me to sit down again so she could rectify the badly done nail. Again, no hello. Basic manners are missing in Urban Calm, unacceptable! She argued the nail was done correctly, it was the fault of my nail shape which made it look badly. I had to persuade her again. She did the whole nail from scratch. It looked perfect now. But she never ever said a word of apology! I was asked to pay £40 although I left £10 deposit, a common policy. Luckily I had my receipt on me. I was phoned twice!! before my appointment to confirm I will be coming. Once would have been enough.
The worst part - my nails started chipping after 2!!!! days. At my special occasion I had chipped nails and was strongly embarrassed. After 5 days my nails looked horrible. Every single nail!! was lacking Shelac- but one. The one which wasn't done by Jo!! After two weeks this one still looks complete. I conclude that Jo did a very bad job altogether. This experience was very unpleasant, lacking any customer service and came at high price compared to eg Voodo. Never again!
After booking and paying through Wahanda, I was contacted by the venue to change the appointment as the times available on Wahanda were not consistent with that of Urban Calm. This indicates poor management on the part of the venue. The place was hard to find, as it is located within the Met Quarter shopping centre and no further information was available on their website. The atmosphere in the place was terrible, in that it was deathly quiet. It was awkward, with very little talking. It wasn't even a peaceful, serene silence, as you could hear the pop music being played out in the shopping centre. The manicure itself was so-so. The lady didn't rinse my hands and arms properly, leaving gritty beads and balm on my hands and in my nail beds. She left nail polish on my skin and the surface was uneven on two nails. The appointment lasted 1hr 20/30mins instead of the scheduled 1 hour, as the lady left me to do somebody's eyebrows in between steps. This meant I left much later than planned. The nail polish chipped less than 24 hours afterwards, which was disappointing. I won't go back.
Had lash out lashes applied.
Honestly terrible atmosphere: loud music, loud, inappropriate conversations going on between staff members over our heads and one of the staff members even made negative comments about another customer's weight as she left the salon. Lashes are very short and sparsely applied, was told I could get longer ones if I came back for refills. Not at all what I would expect for almost £80.
