Horrible experience. Beautician first pressured me into coming half an hour earlier than I'd originally booked for, rushed the treatment, then shouted at me in front of other customers. She also asked for £15 more than I had already paid through the app.
The first thing I want to praise is the strong customer service of the therapist who waxed me. She is warm, friendly and cares about her client's comfort and full of tips and hints about after care. But alas, the points I raise below are the reasons I won't return and are suggested as ways to improve the experience:
1. Double dipping into the (hot) wax is a major deal breaker. As is having roll on heads to apply the wax (as was the case with the strip wax), these aren't changed/sterilised between clients and both practices are unhygienic. I did not get the impression that the therapist was expert at using hot wax; if this is right then she should stick to what she knows.
2. The premises is shared with a barbers, nothing wrong with that but the barbers need to be mindful that when people come in they are expecting a beauty salon (no barbers signage outside) so a little welcoming eye contact/smile and polite steering towards the beauticians would be an improvement. Maybe a rejig of the top floor spacing might assist this.
3. The space where the therapies take place is basic, but essentially clean but you can hear all the chatter (and rather animated business phone calls) from the barbers upstairs which is not at all relaxing when you have a wax. Investing in a small radio or MP3 player that can play music/sounds during treatments would help.
4. I think the therapist should have a separate phone and number for taking bookings that can be covered by other therapists when treatments are taking place. I appreciate that the phone needs to be answered, but not in the middle of my Brazilian!
