The treatment itself was good but it would be a stretch to call this a spa. There is an outdoor jacuzzi and a sauna in a shed with a couple of tables and chairs and no outdoor heater. There is a relaxation room but as another visitor said, it’s more like a dentist’s waiting room with some loungers in it.
It’s more like a very small health club. Tiny changing room. Lockers that weren’t working.
The beautician was well trained but even the product line they use (Decleor) is quite dated.
If you’re used to a luxury spa treatment, you will be disappointed but if you wanted to pop by for a quick massage that’s pretty decent, then it’s fine.
There were hen parties etc and no spa attendants beyond the receptionist running around so was generally messy.
They also couldn’t find my payment and I had to show proof that they’d emailed me confirmation that I’d paid.
The treatment I had was lovely - Kacey did a great job of the signature treatment which was very relaxing. The spa itself however needed a bit of managing - for example there weren’t enough cards to lock / unlock the lockers so I had to ask at reception each time I needed to access my belongings. Annoying. Also the towels / robes weren’t ready folded - we had to stand and wait while a very friendly but clearly on her own, attendant prepared them from a clean laundry bag - we weren’t the first customers of the day so they should have been ready. Also it seemed like a hotel member of staff was asleep on the relaxation room when we were in there. Not very professional. The facilities were clean and hot tub warm, but it just felt like someone with experience needed to take hold of it and get everything ship shape. We stayed at the hotel, which was lovely - great food in the brasserie!
Loved
- the hot tub
- the treatment
- the gym
Could have been better
- the welcome (wasn’t given a show around or a locker key)
- the gym water machine (run out of cups)
- the gym middle rower (foot straps missing)
- the service (empty glasses and mugs not cleared regularly)
- the relaxation room (perhaps add a water feature / aromatherapy burner)
Pros: Spa treatments: Great massages & facial. Afternoon tea in the Brasserie: excellent service. Staff polite & attentive. Good quality food and portions.
Cons: Spa staff lacked initiative- had to ask to replenish tea, coffee & mugs in all self service locations throughout the afternoon. No locker keys available. Whirlpool is small but was well maintained.
