Really nice little earner, you usually are good enough to go out there and start charging customers after doing about ten tans. There are many companies offering training and starter kits so do a little research and dont choose the cheapest one unless you know that they are good. You have to be sure that the training course is accredited and that you can get insurance. A lot of the cheaper courses do not offer a very comprehensive syllabus so you are left just as confused as when you started. Hope this helps

Hi there, I have done quite a few courses with the more famous names in the tanning industry and I found Sienna X and St. Tropez to be the best at HVLP spray tanning (i.e. spray gun). It is a wonderful therapy to be able to offer because it has such a 'wow' factor and if you keep practising on friends and family and get good at it before you advertise then I am sure it will be a hit for you. Try out all the different solutions as not all of them will tick all the boxes for you i.e. nice guide colour, nice developed colour, even fade off and always be prepared to explain to very light skinned people who want to be dark from scratch that ANY tan solution will fade badly (too much DHA for their skin tone) so my advice when in doubt is go for a lower percentage DHA solution. Don't forget that the real investment is the kit, solutions and disposals which can cost hundreds to get you started. Also, advertising - will you need to make changes to leaflets, business cards etc.
It is a really good treatment though as the return is good and it is very quick to do.
I trained with Sienna X, it was really good but all of the courses seem to be about 3-4 hours and you just get one go at tanning someone. You have to figure things out yourself afterwards by practising on lots of friends! I use LA Tan now and they do offer on line training also.
