Festival beauty is a serious business. With more photo ops than a red carpet situation, the pressure is on to look fresh, flawless and festi-cool at all times. This requires a combination of stealth beauty treatments, savvy product packing and time-saving tricks that will have you coasting through the festival season looking cooler than Kate in her muddy wellies. But don’t take our word for it, take your lead from the festival obsessed first ladies of Instagram. Think Alessandra Ambrosio, Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner and Poppy Delevingne who have nailed their festival regime to a T, and come rain or shine always make it out in style…

1 Insta-ready your hair - #nofilter needed
If you really want to make your festival look stand out this summer (for the right reasons), keeping your hair colour bold should be top of your beauty checklist. Just look at style maven Poppy Delevingne, who knows that no matter how tired or partied out she may look, bold hair colour + mirrored sunglasses = photoready. Add an icey update to blonde hair with a spot of spotlighting, deepen and boost shine on brunette hair with a vegetable colour or gloss and fire up red hair with a tahitian red tint. #nofilter.

2 Go temporary tattoo crazy
Festival face paint is so 2015 – metallic tattoos have taken over and they’re here to stay. Literally. Apply them in the morning and you'll be good to go until way into the early hours of the next morning. Available in a variety of styles perfect for accenting different parts of the body and face, they make for a brilliant makeup accessory. Think about it, no one has time to bother with contouring/highlighting/strobing at a festival – stick these metallic tattoos on your browline or cheekbones and let them do all the hard work for you. We've already spotted them on a host of celebs this Spring including the likes of Beyonce, Alessandra Ambrosio and Rosie Huntington Whiteley.

3 Nail a high impact low maintenance manicure
Rule number 1 for festival nails – always stick to gels. The last thing you want on day three of your festival adventure is to look down and see a giant chip. For maximum party potential, try to keep them short and sweet – leave those acrylics at home ladies. But take note, keeping things low maintenance doesn’t mean your nails can’t be high impact. We love this summer's mix and match nail art trend. Stick to one main base colour, throw in a bold accent colour and work a slightly different decor on each nail. Pearls, metallics, nail gems and graphic designs all perfectly compliment each other. Avoid barely there nudes – trust us, after 3 days in a field you’ll want your nails to pack a serious punch.

4 Glow all weekend with a double dip spray tan
It may sound a little OTT but trust us on this one, double dip spray tans are a thing. Again. If you've yet to experience the magic that is double dipping then here's how it works; you have one spray tan, let it develop, then later that day, or the next day, you have another. The beauty of this approach is that it allows you to build up a deeper, darker tan a la Bella Hadid without getting that nasty orange tinge one shot spray tans in darker shades often leave you with. Celebs LOVE double dipping when they have a legs out, bod out situation thanks to the toning effect it has on the body.

5 Perfect the 3 day braid
It’s day 3 and there’s not a shower in sight – it’s at times like these you’ll be wishing you invested in some pocahontas style braids on day 1. Perfect if you’re a get-up-and-go kind of girl, this no-fuss look is the hairstyle that keeps on giving and is ideal for keeping messy hair and funky smells (think bonfires and food trucks!) at bay. Not to mention it’s topping the trend charts right now (see Millie Mackintosh's take on an undone twisted braid for some serious hairspo). It’s also a great way to keep your hair feeling fresh and keeping it cleaner for longer. Be sure to bring along some 24 hour hold hairspray to keep flyaways in check.

6 Take makeup savvy mates and share, share, share
Friends don’t let friends leave the house looking anything but perfect, and the same should go for festivals. Just look at BFF’s Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner at Coachella this year – at festivals mirrors are scarce, so it’s always better to rely on your nearest and dearest to have your back and ensure you’re looking fierce from start to finish. No one wants to haul their entire makeup collection around with them either. Sharing is caring people – why not coordinate your makeup bag with your camping buddy? And if you’re bunking up with a friend who’s a whizz at makeup, even better!

7 Freshen up with clip-in hair extensions
If you want to add some colour to your hair without the commitment, festival season is perfect time to do it. The Hippy Hair Club Extensions are a fun, hassle free way to add a splash of colour to your look this summer. They come in so many cool shades, and also have a great range for afro hair. Designed to easily clip in, these extensions are more for style than length, adding streaks of bright colour to your hair without an expensive trip to the salon. The best part? You don’t need a stylist to look on point. They grip tightly onto your hair and will stay firmly in place all day and night. Simply unclip them before bed (if you can remember to that is..!)
