Periodic table – nope, twisted hair braids that look like DNA helix chains? 100% yes. This is the kind of science my trend-led brain can get on board with.
Though fishtails, pipe braids and the good old french plait remain comfortably positioned in my hair-styling repertoire, this one’s too fancy-looking to resist. The good news? It’s not all that tricky to replicate. You’ll start with three sections (okay, manageable), then get to weaving over and under. There’s a proper tutorial here so you can watch the process step-by-step – easy (ish).
The technique is even sweeter when paired with multi-coloured pastel tones, or balayaged locks (*books last-minute hair dye*).
It’s new, it’s different, it’s a lot of patience, but the good stuff usually does. Weddings, festivals, work procrastination, whatever your excuse for trying out DNA braids, we think you should give it a go.
