    Freaky facials of Instagram

Published on 30 October 2017 - Last updated on 19 December 2025 by Beth Ryan

If there’s one place to find out about the latest craze in facials, it’s Instagram. Remember Kim Kardashian’s ‘vampire facial’ selfie? As horrific as it might have looked, this little known anti-ageing treatment was promptly catapulted into the limelight with women all over the UK queueing up to have their own blood extracted, whipped up into a super-charged platelet rich plasma, and injected back into their face.

But Kim’s not the only one to flaunt her facial on Instagram. Now more than ever people are posting their treatments for the world to see, and some are admittedly just down right freaky, more reminiscent of something from Hannibal Lecter than a skin firming facial. And don’t get us started on those Darth Vader LED masks…

To celebrate Halloween we’ve collected our favourite (and freakiest) facials that are just screaming out for a post on Insta. So if like these A-listers there’s nothing you won’t do in the name of skin care (and a great snap, while you’re at it), then why not brave one of these celeb-approved treatments for yourself. If you dare..!

    FAQs

What is a vampire facial and why do people try it?

A vampire facial involves drawing your blood, processing it into platelet rich plasma, and injecting it back into your face. People try this treatment because it is seen as an anti-ageing option popularised by celebrities, aiming to rejuvenate and firm the skin.

Why are facial treatments so popular on Instagram?

Facial treatments are widely shared on Instagram because they are visually striking and often used by celebrities. Many people enjoy posting treatment photos as part of their skin care journey and for the attention unique or dramatic facials draw online.

Which celebrity made the vampire facial famous?

Kim Kardashian made the vampire facial famous after posting a selfie during her treatment. Her endorsement led to a surge in interest, with many in the UK seeking out this anti-ageing facial for themselves.

Are there other unusual facials shared online besides the vampire facial?

Yes, there are other unusual facials featured on social media, such as skin treatments with LED masks that resemble pop-culture icons like Darth Vader. Some of these treatments look dramatic or even unsettling but are chosen for both their skincare benefits and their photogenic appeal.

Can anyone try out these celeb-approved facial treatments?

Anyone interested in skin care and willing to try something new can consider these celeb-approved facial treatments. Many of these facials are designed for people looking to improve their skin’s appearance and create content that stands out online.
