Threading or waxing: it’s a close call. If you’re the kind of person who takes forever to decide on their starter (bruschetta or sweetbreads is a tough one) you might struggle to choose between the best treatment to tame your brows. There’s more to it than just speed versus accuracy.

1 If you're headed to happy hour
If you want a brow tidy-up before after-work drinks, go for a thread. Waxing makes the skin more sensitive, so if you're applying make-up straight afterward, it'll block the pores. Thread instead and touch up your mascara after if your eyes have watered.

2 If you're admittedly kind of a wimp
OK, so neither treatment's exactly pain-free. But if you want the discomfort to be over quickly, waxing's a wiser choice. Threading's amazingly precise but usually takes a bit longer as it removes each hair individually. Waxing will sting a bit, but it'll capture large patches of skin at a time. That equals less pain overall.

3 If you're already rocking a strong brow
Threading's your best bet if you want drastic restyling. Thanks to the precise nature of this art, your therapist will be able to recreate the ultra sculpted brows of your dreams (or, almost). But if your brows are as strong as Cara Delevingne's then you probably wouldn't change them for the world – and we don't blame you. You lucky lot just need those strays taming fast. Look no further than a quick wax.

4 If you’re doing the vegan thing
This all depends on your motives – and how strict you are with yourself. If you're doing it for the animals then you need to know wax comes from bees, which is definitely not vegan. Threading, however, only uses two strands of cotton, so you can take a smug post-treatment selfie tagged #vegan. #sorrynotsorry.
